As a scholar of the German Academic Foundation, Mirko has a strong academic background in business psychology and sports strategy from Columbia University and PFH Göttingen. He joined the DFB in 2013 and helped to boost FUSSBALL.DE into one of the biggest digital sport platforms in Europe. Then, he passed the UEFA Certificate in Football Management and joined the DFB-Academy team of Oliver Bierhoff, where he developed a knowledge strategy for the new DFB. In this context, Mirko focused on creating an innovation-driven culture and a state-of-the-art digital environment that supports DIE MANNSCHAFT to win future World Cups. At the moment, Mirko is Head of Innovation & Development for DFB. On the pitch, Mirko is not a World Cup winner, but a passionate team captain on a semi-professional level (Regionalliga Nord).
